12/25/07 Merry Christmas December 25, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Liz @ 10:26 am

I think I survived the carnage. The party was a rousing success … everyone went home stuffed and happy. All of the food turned out really well, and I was a little nervous because the veggies were a new recipe and I cooked the beef using different instructions.

The teenagers stayed mostly to the family room and the rest of us stayed mostly to the living room. I think Christopher liked being with the teenagers, because that’s where his brothers were.

I’ve gotten one load of dishes through the dishwasher. I just need to empty it, reload it, then run it again … maybe later. Christpher is being rather high maintenance this morning. He now wants to stamp now …

It really was a great party, Liz! The beef was yummy & tender and the veggie dish was wonderful—one I’d like to try.

Jonah invited me into the family room to talk Harry Potter with him and the others. It was fun, both hearing what the teenagers had to say and sharing my love of Harry Potter and wizard rock. I didn’t know that Jonah was doing graphic arts and I enjoyed hearing about and seeing his work.

The same is true of the rest of the guests—I don’t think I had seen some of them since before Christopher was born!

You were an amazing hostess. Food, decorations, company, and you not only put it all together but stayed calm throughout it all. Thank you, not just for inviting me, but for your example too. I’d almost forgotten what it can be like.

    Merry Christmas!

I feel so much better that you got a tree – just in the Nick of time :-). Sounds like Santa was VERY good to you!

Mary, thanks for the compliments! I think you can find the recipe for the veggies if you search for “Barefoot Contessa Asparagus” and it’s something like spring veggies (which is strange because they were on a holiday show).

Christian (one of the teenagers) said he learned more about HP from you in 5 minutes than he ever has. I thought that was quite a compliment considering how much HP lore is out there.

Julie – Har Har Har – Nick of time! Christopher really liked the ornament you sent (he knows the names of all of the Pooh characters and had fun naming them) and we will all love the dip mixes!
